We are a husband-and-wife team who have been going since 1996, playing a weekly programme of music from near and far, land and sea, past and present, town and country, with special emphasis on traditional folk songs that tell a story: ballads, shanties, blues, gospel, bluegrass, and contemporary songs of the British Isles, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, in English and Gaelic.  We also play music from the dance traditions of those countries (and of Europe too): jigs, reels, strathspeys, flings, polkas, mazurkas, square dances, and so on - traditional and newly-composed tunes that continue to extend and develop the traditional forms.  Naturally we broadcast New Zealand artists to showcase our own traditions and we always try to include some humour in every show.

A few ceremonial occasions will be marked each year with the same old songs - which is, after all, what tradition is all about, but otherwise one of our goals is to avoid repeating material.  As material for our show comes from our own record collection, we are always pleased to receive new releases that can help us keep our audience up to date on folk music in the areas mentioned above.  We have no direct audience feedback, since our programme is not a request-styled show, but we do report our airplay to the nz-folk mailing list, to folkdj-l and to those publishers who are so kind as to send us promotional recordings.
