My programme consists of easy-listening relaxing music suitable for the end of day. I play mainly instrumental music, played on a variety of instruments which include accordion, piano, flute, harp, guitar, violin, pan flute, saxophone, clarinet etc, as well as by orchestras and bands - including dance-bands.
These are from my collection of easy-listening CDs that bring back memories for me of good times enjoyed with friends, a show, a film, or when listening to those old 33 1/3 and 78 rpm records. In particular the days when as a young fellow, I attended Saturday night dances way back in the fifties and sixties and enjoyed the music as well as the dancing. I remember at an even earlier age which would have been during the War, my grandmother playing piano for the dances at the local public hall and I standing at the end of the piano in awe watching her play many of the old tunes that I have found on digitally remastered CDs today.
I was motivated to present my programme of easy-listening music from earlier days as well as more recent times, when Radio Kidnappers advertised for more programme-makers. I had a collection of easy-listening and for me relaxing CDs, tapes and 33 1/3 RPM vinyls that I had collected over 40 years, and decided I would like to share these with Radio Kidnappers listeners. So I approached Radio Kidnappers with my proposal, which was accepted, and now I present "Relax And Remember with John" which goes to air at 4:30pm on Wednesdays each week.
