The programme consists of the best of the Big Bands of the 1930s and 1940s - including well-known instrumentalists like Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller etc - and all those others playing Boogie-Woogie, as well as all the wonderful vocalists of that era - such as Frank Sinatra, The Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald, and many many others.
My affection and motivation for the music of this era began when I started collecting old 78s when I was a student at Rongotai College (in Wellington) during World War II. When the opportunity for starting "SWING AND SWAY" came along in July 2002, I jumped at the opportunity to play the music that I love, and I have been doing it ever since! Every week brings back happy memories of years gone by. Judging by the number of phone-calls I receive at Radio Kidnappers, it shows how much you listeners still greatly enjoy hearing again all the music of this grand old by-gone period.
For any special requests, please phone Radio Kidnappers during the live programme on Friday and I shall endeavour to find whatever you ask for.
